Over the past week and a half we’ve been praying for our dear friend, Kristian (and his wonderful wife, Katy as she’s been without him!) as he’s been in East Asia with their church, Apostles working with the organization Love146. Check out their website. It is eye-opening. Or check out K&K’s blog to read more about the organization and Kristian’s visit. I am writing this post on our little abi’s blog because as I think about all of the things that this precious child is safe from, through God’s grace, it is so painful to think about the beautiful little girls whose lives are so different. But today was cause for celebration. Today another safehouse was opened. Today little ladies will take a step towards getting their childhoods back. Praise God.

“Hi Abi’s Mom – Can I please push Abi?”
Nothing makes you feel like you’re someone else than hearing yourself being called “Abi’s Mom.” Weird, I repeat – weird. But, this is the question that is posed on a somewhat daily basis now by our sweet little neighbor, Piper. Apparently that is my main identity to her or Angela is a bit hard to remember. Either way, she LOVES abi – and Abi is pretty fond of her too. Around 5:30 Piper runs over and asks if she can push abi in her swing.
We finally put up abi’s swing in the front yard – it’ll get moved to the back yard eventually – or we’ll have one in both – who knows. I need to get a picture of Miss Piper soon – it really is sweet, yesterday she was teaching abi words (it was adorable!).

Wardrobe Malfunction
I don’t know about other kiddos – but Abi pulls out of her pajamas all of the time! I really love the PJ’s with the elastic around the ankle because of this. Oh well, it didn’t seem to phase her much…

She’s up!
Well, embarassingly, this happened two weeks ago, and I’m just now posting it! Donald and I had been outside (doing house projects – of course – our favorite past time as of late!) and we came in when we could hear Miss Abi on her monitor. Well, we opened the door, and her crying was LOUD! Hmmm, we knew something was different. Here’s what we found:
Not a happy girl. But, she’s figured out that she can get herself back down, so life isn’t quite so scary anymore. This is how she greets us from naps and from her beauty 12 hours at night.

A gift of love
There in the nursery a mother stood; slowly rocking, slowly rocking. In her arms a bundle, asleep. The mother thought of all of the times that she took these moments for granted in months gone by. Never again. For they are too few now. The mother gazed at the beauty cradled in her grasp. Such peace. Such love. Such love. Emotion that overflows and can’t be written. Emotion that can’t be understood except through the sisterhood of another woman who has been equally blessed. A gift. A gift of love.
