Are we there yet?

Pampers are no match for our Abi.  Not even the extra-dry.  Nothin’.  Nada.  Oh, land of potty-trained kiddos…are we there yet??!!  Because of sweet baby’s well hydrated system, I have been doing LOTS of laundry, as practically every night is a leak-through.  (We are taking some inventive measures to insure that we’re only having to wash the sheet, not the pad each time!)  Abi is such a helper though.

So, elusive Potty-Trained-Land…we’re heading your way.  With excitement (well, I’m at least excited) – we hope to arrive in the summer.  We’ll see.  Abi-girl is great about going #2 in her potty - #1 is more hit-or-miss.  But she is really REALLY excited about the stickers that follow!

Wish us luck on our journey!!

One more…

Per suggestion of aunt jenny…

This is a classic abi phrase as of late.  “One more?!”  I put both (?) and (!) in the quote because sometimes it is a question and other times it is a statement!  We WILL do one more!  She raises her pointer finger up to her mouth and out comes the request/demand!

Out of abi’s mouth it is “one mow?”  Usually as a desire for more tickles, another lap around the house in her car, blueberries, more viewing of Pablo online, etc.

My best attempt at a picture:

Loving my Josh

To say that these two love each other would be a slight understatement!  They are so so excited when the other is in town.  It truly is a joy to watch!

Last weekend I was in my dear friend, Sarah’s, wedding.  Jenny & Brian watched Abi for us most of the weekend while we were driving all around houston for wedding events!

And Jenny and Brian came in town this weekend because they’re heading to CO for some serious ski-time!  We get the blast of hanging out with Josh and loving him all to ourselves!!

Reflections of the eternal

After writing/reading this post, I wanted to continue the same in Abi’s world.  Here it is today:

IMG_3262

(pink bear is abi’s, brown bear is donald’s from when he was a wee-one – her other two loveie's got left in the car)

I took off baby girl’s bumpers today.  A bit of “I’m annoyed by them when I change her sheets” and she really doesn’t need them anymore.  It made me so sad.

Then something magical happened today.  I was sitting on the phone talking to donald, with my back up against our oven; sitting indian-style (sorry for the lack of  political-correctness there). And Abi just came and sat in my lap.  And she fell asleep.  Not kidding.  It was magical.  I then shifted her in my arms and just cradled her sitting on my wood floor.  Perfectly content to let her nap time go by.

Note: I did put her back in her crib after about 15 minutes.  She did not like it.  I did end up putting the bumpers back on, because I convinced myself that she did ,in fact, miss them.  Haha on me.

Trying again…

Our first go with abi and the bike trailer didn’t go too well.  She was 10 months, and really, still too little.  Donald and I were just over zealous.  SO, we decided to try again – this time with baby being 19 months.  Went MUCH better!!

Abi’s special bunny “hat.”  She did GREAT with it!  (Yes, momma has a “hat” too – a cool one with a visor!)

YIKES!

[blogaward.jpg]

Our sweet friend, Lauren, gave Abi a blog award!  She is honored.  Really.  The award entails talking about where you will be in ten years and then to pass it on to friends!  Big time for Abi!

After hearing about the award – you can understand the title “Yikes” – baby will be almost 12.  Still potentially our sweet Abi – but the teenage years will be looming in the very near future.  Again –YIKES!  Donald and I are already preparing ourselves.

So our dear Abi – in 10 years.  I can only imagine the beauty.  You will be amazing.  Good thing we have the no dating rule already in place.  I hope you are loving others well.  I hope you’ll be volunteering in something that you are passionate about.  I hope you love to write.  I hope that you have traveled and seen some of this beautiful world.  I hope you have at least one dog…maybe two??!!  I hope that you have deep, solid friendships with your girlfriends and your family.  I hope that you know the love of your savior.  You will be in Middle School – wow, we’ll gave a LH Wildcat (or another school, too big to think about right now!)  in our house!  I know you’ll love to learn.  Hopefully you’ll love to swim and play tennis.  The two sports we plan to push on you (the wallace household loves life-long sports).  I hope that you have dates with your daddy and trips with your momma and friends.  I hope you have three younger siblings!!  I hope you know your infinite worth and beauty.

Lauren, thank you for this fun exercise!  I must admit, I did tear up a bit thinking about it!!

Our friends…we’ll pass it along to Josh (via Jenny); Caedmon (via Katy) Emory and Gabe (via chelle); Rylan (via Jess); Savvy (via Ashley); Evan & Abbie (via Amy); Zoe & Addie (via Jenny) and Hannah (via Jen).

Get those tissues and giggles out!!

Baby’s Snow Weekend

You see, because her perspective was much different than ours.

Yes, Yes, this post is OH-SO late, but we had Mimi and Gigi in town last week, and next year when I make her 2010 blog book – this snow needs to be in there!  So, please pardon my tardiness.

Abi – hmmm, didn’t really like the snow.  Too cold.  She is a Texan after all.  She welcomed it a bit more once she realized snowmen could be built.  But overall, she is not really a fan.  Too many clothes.  Mittens must stay on (until we gave up and let her have cold hands for a bit).

Goodness, she sure did look cute in it, though!

But, like I said – too many clothes.

Oh, baby – we’ll pray if we ever move…
